WELCOME TO CASTRO VALLEY

Castro Valley holds a special place in the East Bay, and it's easy to understand why so many families choose to make it home. The community has a grounded, residential feel that's genuine. Neighbors know each other at the farmers market. People spend weekends hiking around Lake Chabot or walking through established neighborhoods where trees are tall and driveways lead to real yards.

The mix of neighborhoods tells the full story. There are the well established areas near downtown Castro Valley Boulevard, where homes date back decades and schools have deep roots. Then there are newer pockets like Five Canyons and Palomares Hills, where families are building their next chapters. Between them sit quiet streets in Cull Canyon and around Redwood Canyon Golf Course. Something in Castro Valley fits nearly every stage of life.

Schools and Education:

Castro Valley Unified School District serves the area, with schools that draw families in and keep them. The district is known for community engagement and a genuine commitment to student success. School boundaries matter here, and they vary from one neighborhood to the next, which is worth exploring if schools are part of your decision.

What to Do:

Lake Chabot Regional Park dominates the lifestyle here. The lake itself, the Marina, hiking trails, and open space make it a true gathering place year round. The Castro Valley farmers market is a weekly ritual for many residents, running year round and serving as an unofficial town center. Nearby you'll find Cull Canyon Regional Recreation Area and Five Canyons Regional Park for trails and open space. Redwood Canyon Golf Course sits quietly to the south. The area is genuinely outdoors oriented.

Access matters too. BART connects Castro Valley to the broader Bay, and quick freeway access to 580 and 238 means the wider East Bay and beyond are close but not intrusive.

Castro Valley works because it balances suburban peace with genuine community, open space with convenient access, and established comfort with room to grow.
